Our Insight Into Three Of The Top Home Trends Of 2022

Home trends for 2022

Did you draw up a list of Resolutions prior to the end of 2021? If you did, we hope that enhancing your home in 2022 was included.

It ought to be a priority if it’s a few years since the last time it had a makeover, and there’s no time like the present to get it done.

But, before you make any changes, it’s worth having awareness of some of the main home trends for 2022.

Amber can enlighten you, informing you of everything from key colours to the very latest themes to follow.

Multi-functional spaces

One thing that the pandemic has highlighted to any homeowner is the need for their property to offer everything in one space – get your home working hard!

Over the last two years, bedrooms, kitchens and attics became home offices, and in 2022 we’ll need even more versatility at home, with rooms doubling and tripling up for varying purposes.

So, as well as installing a Peloton in your guest room to keep fit away from the gym, you may also want to have a foldaway desk fitted in it, while your conservatory should be set up so that it can act as a conference space in the day and entertainment area at night.

Grandmillenial style

No-one has had it easy these last couple of years and for some, it’s the comfort provided by their homes that’s kept them going.

Rewind your mind to those days spent as a child in your Grandparent’s house – no place felt more comforting than in there – and it’s a lasting memory that’s been the driving force behind the rise of the Grandmillenial style.

Those in their mid-20’s to late-30’s who are responsible for its increasing popularity have been nicely described as “people who have an appreciation for the past.”

To realise the Grandmillenial aesthetic, add meaningful items around the house, such as any family heirlooms, as well as floral prints, cross-stitch decor, handmade quilts etc. What could be more comforting than that?

Anything but white

People will continue to be experimental with their colour choices, giving traditional white the cold shoulder, considering it to be too muted.

Recently, it was announced that “Very Peri” will be the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2022, a company that’s a real authority when it comes to colour. It contains a periwinkle blue and energising violet, so it’s quite a vibrant shade, without being too ‘in your face’.

Colours we associate with nature, such as warm browns and terracotta, will also be hot picks, and the easiest way to incorporate them is with the installation of e.g. leather sofas and also through your choice of window treatments.
