ORIGIN’S OPTIONS ALMOST SEEM ENDLESS
An Origin bi-fold isn’t just superior in quality and functionality to rival bi-fold doors, but it also extends far more customisation privileges. Accept nothing less than what Origin offers, which is a heap of choice.
Evaluate the potential arrangements…
Only when you get a thorough understanding of the Origin corner door configurations do you learn why these corner doors are so highly rated. Up to 9.4 metres can be covered in each direction in width, with eight doors to the right and left of the corner up to 3.025mm high. The individual door sashes can be crafted as narrow as 400mm and to a width of 1200mm. It’ll be down to you to decide how they open and close and the direction the corner post moves (depending on the cantilever). A corner bi-fold has doors that stack open in both directions when both sides are open (subject to a survey).
Pair up two colours or go solo…
Most of us have one or more colours that we particularly favour and Origin Corner Bi-folding doors can be finished in all of them. Added up, there are over 150 RAL colours, so it’s extremely helpful that you can have a dual colour, two separate shades inside and out.
You’ll be amazed by the flawlessness of the finish and it’s due to Origin’s aluminium having the highest-grade powder. After undergoing a special pre-treatment, the fade-free and scratch-resistant colour is applied using an electrostatic process, and then it gets cured at 200°C to harden it but maintain a smoothness.
Discern the quality by touch
You can go without an external handle if you don’t intend it to be an entry point and the corner bi-folding doors will still be a robust defence.
Handles, D-handles and Slave handles come in numerous styles and finishes. We can cater for corner bi-folds in solid stainless steel if told when placing an order. Silver is the typical preference of progressive householders and those residing in older homes generally want gold or black furniture. Stainless-steel handles are recommended for families with young children as they are sturdy and hardly need any maintenance. In this scenario, an easy-to-pull handle would also make sense.
Secured by Design, of course…
Virtually all French doors and sliding doors are vastly inferior security-wise to Origin corner bi-folds because they don’t have their unique eight-point locking system (5 more locking points than most competing designs). They have passed PAS 23/24 tests and feature bevelled 20mm bolts for smooth operation when engaging the design and maximum security and weather compression.
Deep throw 25mm security hooks are incorporated too, the finest around. Add into the mix solid cast Yale security handles with high performance fixing bolts and a British Standards accredited Magnum security cylinder that isn’t prone to snapping, bumping, drilling or picking.
Safe exits and entries…
The threshold of a corner bi-fold is the tracking system the door carriage slides in. Origin and Amber collectively suggest having a weathered threshold (‘rebated’ threshold) which gets sunk into the ground, leaving a 14mm upstanding lip (from outside to in). Seals on the bottom of the corner bi-fold compress against the lip to offer a watertight seal.
Restrict use of non-weathered thresholds for seamless indoor-outdoor transitions to internal or sheltered areas. A lack of raised section removes any solid lip to compress against, greatly reducing weather protection.
Energy-saving and money-saving…
Origin has developed a thermal polyamide break to uplift the insulating abilities of aluminium and stem the amount of heat transfer from the outside to the inside. Advanced watertight seals are also present in Origin’s aluminium to prevent the elements manifesting in your inner sanctuary and keep heating costs down.
Building Regulations are easily surpassed by all Origin doors and their U-Values are exceptionally low, achieving comfortably below the required window and doors U-Value of 1.6 W/m2K and 1.4 W/m2K for replacements.
