Origin Bi Fold Doors

Origin’s Exceptional Choices – Your Ultimate Selection

Unlike many other bi-folding door manufacturers, Origin offers superior quality and functionality with an extensive range of options. Don’t settle for less—Origin and Amber Home Improvements provide a comprehensive selection to meet all your needs and preferences.

It’s a clear win all around

When it comes to Origin bi-folding doors, the options are truly impressive. With configurations that span up to 9.4 metres wide and 3.025 metres high, you can customise individual door panels from as narrow as 400mm to as wide as 1200mm. Choose how they fold and slide—either in or out, any way you prefer.

At Amber, we appreciate that Origin doesn’t just offer a wide range of choices. Every option is crafted to perfection, arriving on time and supported by Origin’s top-notch British manufacturing.

We’ve got it all

Origin Bi-Fold Doors come in nearly any colour you can imagine, from classic black and white to contemporary greys. With over 150 RAL colours available and a dual-colour option for different interior and exterior finishes, you can tailor the doors to perfectly match your style. Additionally, Origin offers a range of woodgrain finishes.

To ensure a flawless appearance, Origin uses the highest-grade powder coating applied through an electrostatic process. This coating, cured at 200°C, is more durable than conventional paint, providing a smooth, scratch-resistant surface that resists fading.

Flexibility and security

For those who want added peace of mind, you can opt for no handle on the outside—perfect for doors that aren’t used as entry points.

Choose from a range of handle options, including D handles and Slave handles, available in various finishes, styles, and colours. At Amber, we can provide most bi-fold orders with solid stainless steel handles if selected at the time of order. Modern homes often go for sleek silver, while classic gold or black may suit older properties better. Stainless steel is a fantastic choice for homes with young children—it’s low maintenance, highly durable, and easy to clean, plus it’s designed for easy use.

Secured by Design

Origin bi-fold doors offer enhanced security compared to many French and sliding doors. They feature a unique eight-point locking system built into the master door—five more locking points than many competitors—ensuring superior protection. These doors have passed rigorous PAS23/24 security tests. The chamfered 20mm bolts provide smooth engagement and maximum compression, delivering both robust security and excellent weather resistance.

Origin bi-fold doors are equipped with deep throw 25mm security hooks, the deepest available, for enhanced protection. The Origin lock excels in both security and weatherproofing, featuring solid cast Yale security handles paired with high-performance fixing bolts. Additionally, the British Standards accredited Magnum security cylinder provides robust defence against snapping, picking, drilling, and bumping.

Using the right type of threshold for your bi-fold door

A bi-fold threshold is the part where the door slides to open and close. There are two main types. A weathered threshold is also called a ‘rebated’ threshold. It is set slightly into the floor, leaving a small lip of just 14mm between the inside and outside. The seal on the bottom of the door presses against this lip to help keep out the weather.

A non-weathered threshold is flat and doesn’t have a raised lip, making for a smooth transition between inside and outside. However, because there’s no solid lip for the door seal to press against, it might not protect as well from the weather. This type is best for indoor or sheltered areas. So, you can choose the threshold that suits your needs based on where your door is installed.

Stay comfortable year-round with Origin’s advanced doors

Aluminium on its own isn’t very good at keeping temperatures stable, but Origin has tackled this with special thermal polyamide breaks. These breaks help reduce the amount of heat that moves between the inside and outside, keeping your space warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Combined with high-quality weather seals, Origin doors help you save on energy bills.

To measure how well a door insulates, we look at its U-Value. A lower U-Value means better insulation. Building Regulations require doors and windows to have a U-Value of 1.6 W/m²K, and for replacements, it’s 1.4 W/m²K. Origin doors not only meet but exceed these standards, offering superior performance.
