It’s Time For National Home Improvement Month!

Are you feeling inspired to update your home? Now is the perfect time to invest in your home as September is National Home Improvement Month.

Homeowners in the UK have been issued the challenge to #MAKEONECHANGE to update their home.

This event has been organised by the British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA), who after carrying out a survey found that 56% of UK residents don’t love their home. The month of September is dedicated to trying to change this statistic for the better.

Full details of the challenge and how you can take part can be found on the National Home Improvement Month website

So, are you ready to start making some changes?

Before you dive in we recommend stepping back and thinking about what you want to achieve. Pick a room that you spend a lot of time in to update so that you feel the most benefit of your hard work.

To help you get started, here are 3 home improvement ideas for some of the most important parts of your home:

Refresh your kitchen cabinets

It’s a well known fact that the kitchen is one of the most used rooms in the home. It’s where the family starts their day with breakfast and ends with a family dinner to catch up. In terms of rooms where you’ll feel the benefit of a change this is high up on the list.

Changing your kitchen doesn’t have to mean a complete renovation, you can make simple changes that will have a big impact. For example if you have wooden cabinets you can sand them down and repaint them to match whichever new decor style you’re going for. You can find more info, about professional painting companies, here.

To complete the transformation we recommend updating the hardware (handles, pulls and knobs) on your cabinets, you’ll be amazed at the difference a simple change can make.

Add removable wallpaper to a wall in the master bedroom

A feature wall is a design trend that’s here to stay. Whether you want a bold contrasting colour or a patterned wall, a feature wall draws your eye into the room and adds an elegant touch to a master bedroom.

The problem with a feature wall is the patterns can be really detailed and difficult to replicate. Why not experiment with removable wallpaper? These panels are essentially large stickers for your wall that take all of the hassle out of decorating.

When you’re bored of a design or want to try a new trend, simply peel the wallpaper off with no damage to your wall. It’s the perfect way to create a wall that perfectly matches your master bedroom and it more than meets the challenge of #MAKEONECHANGE.

Tidy up and pretty up your front entrance

Your front entrance says a lot about you. Peeling paintwork or an older door can have a reflection on the interior of your home, and not necessarily for the better. Make coming home an inviting experience and transform your entrance.

If you’re feeling like taking on a larger project, consider updating your front door. Get a bold new look that adds serious kerb appeal to your home  while also giving you the benefit of improved security and energy efficiency.

Why stop there? To make a real impact spend some time on your garden, tidy up any grass that’s overgrown and add some new plants for a freshly manicured look that’ll be a treat to come home to.
