ALUMINIUM GABLE GLAZING | BLOFIELD NR13
ANTHRACITE GABLE WINDOW AND SLIDING PATIO DOORS
A bungalow gable in Blofield, NR13, went from a white uPVC window in a rendered wall to a full-height anthracite aluminium gable: a triangular window above, sliding patio doors below, both in the same dark frames. The old opening was a wide white casement that stopped at mid-wall. The new one takes the glass to the eaves and out onto the patio. This page is that gable. See Amber’s aluminium windows for slimline frames in anthracite and other colours.
Property & Location
A single-storey home in Blofield, NR13, east of Norwich on the Broadland side of the A47, towards Acle and Great Yarmouth. Nearby places include North Burlingham, Brundall, Lingwood and Acle. The work shown is the garden gable: red brick either side, a rendered panel replaced by a matching brick gable filled with anthracite aluminium. Blofield is in the NR13 area Amber covers as standard from the Hellesdon Park, Norwich showroom, across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
Client Brief
The garden gable was a cream rendered panel with a white uPVC window sitting in the middle of the wall. It let light in, but the glass stopped well below the eaves and the frames were the old white set. The owners wanted the gable opened up: aluminium, anthracite, glass to the roof, and doors out to the patio. They asked for:
- The white uPVC gable window taken out
- A full-height anthracite aluminium gable window
- Matching anthracite aluminium sliding patio doors onto the garden
- Frames lined through from the doors up into the triangle
- The property left tidy at the end of the job

This is a gable glazing job, not a new extension. The white uPVC window and the rendered panel came out. In their place is a brick gable filled with aluminium: sliding doors at patio level, a triangular window in the roof pitch, the vertical bars running through so the elevation reads as one opening. The doors are sliders, stacking behind each other, not bifolds. A named board or profile is not listed on this page; the frames are described as they appear.
Amber surveys, supplies and fits aluminium windows and patio doors across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire from the in-house team. Colour, layout and whether the doors should slide or fold are set on a free home survey. Every quote is fixed and written.
Before & After
Before: A cream rendered gable with a white uPVC casement in the middle of the wall, brick piers either side, white eaves. After: A red-brick gable filled with anthracite aluminium: sliding patio doors at ground level and a triangular window above, mullions lined through, opening onto the patio.
Outcome
From the garden the gable is now one run of glass. Anthracite aluminium takes the opening from the patio to the eaves; the sliders stack out of the way; the triangle above keeps the room light. The white uPVC window is gone. Every Amber window and door installation is fitted by the in-house team and covered by the 20-year guarantee above. Free, no-obligation home surveys are available across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, including Blofield, the rest of NR13, North Burlingham, Brundall, Lingwood and Acle. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is aluminium gable glazing?
Gable glazing fills the triangular end of a pitched roof with a window, often sitting over doors so the glass runs the full height of the wall. On this Blofield NR13 bungalow the gable is anthracite aluminium: a triangular window above sliding patio doors, with the mullions lined through.
Are these bifolding doors or sliding doors?
Sliding patio doors. The after photograph shows the panes stacked in the frame, not folded in a concertina. Amber also supplies bifolds; this Blofield gable is the sliding layout. See triple-track patio doors for how sliders open a wide gable without folding leaves.
Why aluminium rather than uPVC on a gable?
Aluminium frames can be slimmer and still span a large triangle. On this Blofield house the old gable was white uPVC in a rendered panel. The new frames are anthracite aluminium so more of the opening is glass. Colour and material are chosen on survey.
How much do aluminium windows and patio doors cost in Norfolk?
There is no typical pound figure on Amber’s aluminium windows page, and this Blofield job is not a price example. Cost follows the size of the gable, the door layout and the colour. Every quote is fixed, written and follows a free no-obligation home survey.
Does Amber fit aluminium windows in Blofield and NR13?
Yes. Amber Home Improvements is a family-run, Norwich-based installer with over 28 years’ experience, FENSA-registered and GGF-accredited. Aluminium windows and patio doors are surveyed, supplied and fitted by the in-house team across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, including Blofield, North Burlingham, Brundall, Lingwood and Acle. Visit the showroom at Unit 52, Hellesdon Park Road, Norwich NR6 5DR, or book a survey on 01603 672638.
Can the gable window and the patio doors be the same colour?
Yes. On this Blofield house the triangular window and the sliding doors are both anthracite aluminium, with the vertical bars lined up. Matching the gable and the doors is decided on survey, with samples in the actual light.
