Tudor Style House Transformed with Fibre Cement Cladding – NR29 Norfolk
See how this NR29 Norfolk property was transformed from a dated Tudor façade into a modern home using Hardie Plank fibre cement exterior cladding.
Tudor Style House Transformed with Fibre Cement Cladding
This residential project in Norfolk involved the complete transformation of the upper façade of a traditional Tudor-style property.
The homeowners wanted to move away from the dated mock Tudor timber detailing and replace it with a clean, contemporary exterior that would modernise the appearance of the house while improving durability and reducing maintenance.
To achieve this, we installed Hardie Plank fibre-cement cladding with ColourPlus™ Technology across the upper elevations. See our range here
Original Exterior
The property originally featured a mock Tudor façade, with decorative timber framing and render panels.
While traditional in style, this type of exterior often requires ongoing maintenance and can look dated compared with modern architectural finishes.
The homeowners wanted to remove the timber detailing and replace it with a clean contemporary cladding system.
Installation Process
The project was completed in several stages.
• Removal of the original Tudor timber detailing
• Preparation of the upper façade
• Installation of battens to create a ventilated cavity
• Installation of fibre cement cladding boards
• Finishing trims around windows and rooflines
Careful installation around the large flush gable window (which we also installed) ensured the new cladding enhanced the symmetry of the property.
The Transformation
The finished result (which included the installation of the flush gable frame by Amber) dramatically modernised the appearance of the home.
The property now benefits from:
✔ Contemporary architectural design
✔ Long-lasting fibre cement durability (see timber comparison here)
✔ Minimal maintenance requirements
✔ Improved fire performance
The contrast between the modern cladding and the brick base gives the property a striking new look.
Cladding System Installed
We installed Hardie® Plank Fibre Cement Cladding across the upper elevations of the property.
This system was chosen because of its durability, fire performance and low maintenance.
Fire Safety
The cladding boards are rated A2-s1, d0, meaning they are non-combustible and will not contribute fuel to a fire.
ColourPlus™ Technology
The boards feature a factory-applied baked finish designed to resist fading, cracking and peeling.
Dimensional Stability
Unlike timber cladding, fibre cement boards do not shrink, swell or warp with seasonal weather changes.
Manufacturer Warranty
When installed as a full system, the cladding is backed by a 15-year manufacturer warranty.
