What Is So Good About UPVC And Why Do We Use It?

When observing our very extensive product line, you will notice that we rely on UPVC to make pretty much everything, including windows, doors, conservatories, roofline and porches.

Cream UPVC Windows

Other than knowing that it has a plastic-like sheen, you possibly aren’t fully aware of what exactly UPVC is, its background or even what UPVC stands for.

Originally developed in 1935, Unplasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (UPVC) gained notoriety amongst the British public in the 1980’s, during the double glazing boom of that era.

Fast-forward 40 years and UPVC windows and doors are still supplied by most window and door suppliers and as loved as ever, but why is that?

The affordable cost of UPVC is one of the biggest reasons, as they don’t come in at a lower price point than most aluminium and hardware solutions.

UPVC is also incredibly tough and can almost withstand anything.

Unlike traditional wood, UPVC doesn’t lose its resilience over time, mostly down to the vinyl polymer in the materials, which binds chlorine atoms to the frame. It isn’t your ordinary plastic, far from it, and it’s compatibility with steel proves it.

In terms of the insulation it offers, UPVC really excels.

The modern UPVC home improvement product can achieve fantastically high thermal efficiency standards, which it must do to satisfy building regulations, ensuring you of the utmost warmth.

Originally, colour options for UPVC products were largely non-existent and you had no choice but to have a traditional white finish. Thankfully, technology has progressed and UPVC products come in all sorts of colours nowadays, even woodgrain effects if you want to mimic the appearance of timber.

To maintain a UPVC frame is easy. You will never have to repaint it, for starters, and when the frame gets dirty, wiping it with a wet cloth will make it look shiny and new again.

We have put an autumn price freeze on our UPVC products. Get a priority quote now to capitalise on this limited time offer.
